oprano Emily Parrott, described as, “Youthful and pure…,” (Pierre Ruhe, Atlanta Journal-Constitution) commands the stage as a versatile performer whether it be musical theater or opera. Mostly recently she performed the soprano solos in Handel’s Messiah in Atlanta. In January 2008, she sang Adina in a special New Year’s Eve performance of Donizettis’ L’Elisir d’Amore with St. Petersburg Opera. Over the last few years, Emily has performed regularly with such respected companies as The Atlanta Opera, Capitol City Opera, The Atlanta Lyric Theatre, and Black Bear Dinner Theater. With Capitol City Opera, and toured regularly as Gretel in Hansel and Gretel. Her other roles include Despina in Cosi fan tutte, Maria in The Sound of Music, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, Anne Page in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Laetitia in The Old Maid and the Thief, and Papagena in The Magic Flute. In the summer of 2005 she toured Italy as La Virtu in Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea with La Musica Lirica.
In addition to her professional experience, Emily gained intense performance experience singing in many roles and scenes at Valdosta State University and Georgia State University where she received her degrees. Emily received the Bachelor of Music degree from Valdosta State University and the Master of Music degree from Georgia State University, both in vocal performance.
